Shama Goklani, LCSW

Clinical Supervisor

I work with adults navigating trauma, challenging family relationships, and questions of identity, including the experiences of adult children of immigrant parents. Together, we explore how past experiences influence present emotions, relationships, and ways of responding.

My approach attends to both mind and body, helping clients notice emotional patterns, understand different parts of themselves, and make room for difficult experiences. I aim to support greater self-understanding, flexibility, and choice in how they move forward.

Professional Background

Shama’s work combines trauma treatment, relationship-focused therapy, and culturally responsive care. She supports adults and couples in exploring attachment, identity, and recurring interpersonal patterns. Alongside her clinical practice, she serves as Director of Clinical Operations at Gaya Therapy, where she supports clinician development and clinical standards. Her integrative perspective draws on somatic, emotion-focused, and relational approaches.

Supporting Our Clinicians

Shama helps clinicians deepen their understanding of clients by exploring recurring themes, emotional experiences, and patterns within the therapeutic relationship. Her supervision makes space to reflect on clinicians’ own reactions and how these may influence their work. Through collaborative discussion, she supports a more thoughtful, attuned understanding of both the client’s experience and the therapeutic process.
